Interview with the GM

Matt Stein - Director of Marketing

I recently sat down with General Manager Greg Schursky and had a few questions I wanted to ask.

First, how do you rate the season?

Well, the season should be broken into two, the result of the games and the results of the players. The Redhawks did not do well in the win/loss columns.  However, the players’ results were better than expected.

How’s that?

The mission of the AZ Redhawks is to move players to a higher level.  That’s where we succeeded.  We had five players age out of the program this year. These players were with us for a good amount of time and the coaches were able to access their full ability and match these players with potential colleges and higher level junior teams.  All five players did not only receive the usual requests from colleges that were generic emails, but, both Coach Sanche and I received direct phone calls asking about a player.

And that is different?

Oh yes, this is a communication that shows 100 percent interest in the Redhawk player, not just wanting bodies for a program.

Is that important?

Sure, bottom line is that our players, all players, want to experience and see the results of their hard work.  What’s better for a player and their family then a sense of accomplishment, achieving a goal and playing at the highest level that they can.  And, getting a college education with scholarship at the same time.

What’s next?

We build.  We recruit the best players we can and we play and work for the benefits of the players to accomplish their goals.
